This weekend my high school cohorts rallied and walked the halls of our school one last time because it is being torn down to make way for a new state of the art facility. Admittedly, I was out of control, I broke all sorts of rules, like entering the teachers lounge (the door was unlocked and wide open). . . and drinking alcohol on school grounds (it was being sold to those of us over 21) or drinking anything liquid for that matter in the gym - I even ran through the hallways (with scissors!) Okay, I totally did not take it that far, that is just too dangerous (in heels). And I couldn't even bring myself to finally write something on the bathroom stall, although I did show up armed with an arsenal of Sharpies for such an activity, but come to find out I was still afraid I'd get get grounded or detention or suspended (and it might even be against the law, I am not 100% sure).
I never took an art class in high school but the art teacher Ms. Meyers let me hang out during my study hall in senior year. I made two works that year, a graphite drawing of a milk pod I found across the street near the pond where all the kids smoked (those kids who weren't afraid of being grounded or getting detention (see above) and a marker caricature of my Trig teacher, Mr. Weintruab - the likeness of him was much more accurate than my math calculations.

Farewell WBHS!
And cheers to the new building!
