I am back from Atlanta -  I experienced trains, trams, planes, automobiles, buses, boats and my favorite mode of travel, my feet - all before 3p.m. More soon on the Atlanta workshop - I had a terrific weekend painting with everyone and I saw a lizard (I know, I couldn't believe it either, I've never seen one out in the wild).  In Other News: Brie the dog got a haircut - she feels like a tennis ball and looks like a snake with feet. Today she was mistaken for a Whippet.

I've unpacked from last weekend's workshop in Traverse City and am repacking for this weekend's workshop in Atlanta. I haven't stopped talking about Michigan since I got back - I've Googled everything I experienced from sand dunes to fishing shacks to slag and gin. I kayaked yesterday morning and pretended I was on the lake until I almost clubbed a very large jellyfish with my paddle - eh. 

I ran the workshop like an interval training session. I changed the (painting) exercises often. We never lingered too long because I like to keep everyone moving along - the time flew, the work stayed fresh and our energy stayed up. We talked about everything from value to color to composition. We discussed topics like, tapping into our personal voice, creating a lineage and making a painting sing. More photos of the workshop can be seen on my Facebook page

I'm home from Traverse City, Michigan - by way of a quick sunset paddle in the harbor. My fluffy little friend greeted me at the ferry - it's apparently been very humid since I've been gone (indicated by Brie's not so polished hairdo). The workshop was loads of fun - pictures and details soon!

Greetings from Traverse City, Michigan - where has this place been all my life?! There is water everywhere (I wish I were a fish) - I want to kayak every inch (unless I finally grow my gills). I've been spoiled with tours by land and water featuring breathtaking vista after vista - great company - and a workshop full of enthusiastic and energetic folks - (have you ever seen a squirrel the color of black ink? I hadn't either but they have them here). Below is a photo of today's workspace. And below that a photo of the dunes.

I'm off to Traverse City! The way I pack is this, all my favorite things come with me - whether they make sense or not. My big blue sweater in June with flip-flops? Why not? Oh, there's a little extra room in my bag, I should totally bring my fifth favorite pair of jeans. In other news; Brie the dog is on stay-cation and much to my fluffy dismay she started it today - our walk turned into three sits on park benches (to take in the view?) which was followed by chewing two sticks and an extended roll in the grass in which she did her best alligator impersonation.
