3301 Planting a Seed
sold still life, acrylic, 6" x 6"
I'm back and settling in from my workshop in Arkansas - I extended my stay to explore the Ozarks and packed as much into the five days that I could - including my first rodeo. My destination after Fort Smith was Eureka Springs - it's rumored that the 63 natural springs there have healing powers. After surviving the night at America's most haunted hotel I headed to Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art . I viewed their art collection and toured the Frank Lloyd Wright house (the museum relocated it from New Jersey). From there I traveled to Branson, MO and listened to Bluegrass by the White River Wranglers, a band of three brothers who have performed together for 37 years. I stuck around to watch Dolly Parton's Stampede, a dinner show with horses and pigs and dogs, audience participation and an entire meal served (and eaten) without utensils. The next day, I checked out the breathtaking Dogwood Canyon - 11,000 scenic acres full of waterfalls, springs, caves, yellow trout, bison (and one water snake, I refuse to accept there may have been more). I loved the buildings and history of Eureka Springs so much, I headed back there for one more night but stayed in a less haunted hotel. The next morning I was up early to head back to Fort Smith and I had just enough time before my flight to ride the rails in a vintage train.
