1132 Didn't They?
sold I just watched the documentary "Wasteland." In the film artist Vik Muniz, returns to his native Brazil to film and create artwork of/about a group of recyclable landfill pickers. The film is memorable for many reasons, particularly as to how Muniz redistributes the funds generated by the sales of the work. still life, acrylic, 6x6"

1129 This End Up
New panel, 1/2" thick complete with a built in hook in the back - which makes it difficult to turn the painting upside down if you feel like the direction you are in needs, well, a new direction. still life, acrylic, 4x4" $60 click here to purchase

1126 Contents
I opened this can and froze the contents in order to use it for my flowers. Which must mean I'm done thinking about the panels. still life, acrylic, 5" x 7"

1125 slab
sold Different thicker panel, 1/2" thick - with built in hook in the back, but I like the other thinner panels better, because I can use the front or the back and they fit in my panel holder on my easel, the thicker ones are too thick. (I seriously need to get over this panel thing.) still life, 4x4" acrylic

That humidity I loved yesterday is still here today and it's making for some really soft edge work in this painting. still life, acrylic, 6x6"

1122 All Day
sold
I love the humidity, this painting stayed wet most of the day, so I kept playing with it. First the flowers were on the window sill, then the floor, then in the sink. I was chasing the light, apparently (first rule of what not to do). It was about four other paintings before I finally stopped. still life, acrylic, 4"x8" Other News: Openings this Friday night; Forever Farbush, at Oceanside 17, 17 Rockland Circle, Hull, MA 5:30 - 8:30 • Page Railsback Open Studio from 5-8, 36 North Street, Hingham, MA • Kelley MacDonald, 6-8:30 at Art Stable Gallery in Westport, MA

1121 After but Before
sold
Although I do most of my daily paintings at 5am, because I like to start my day painting, my preferred light to paint with is in the afternoon. Today I painted these around four-ish - after Brie's walk, but before her dinner. . . I've been thinking of light as an object, something that takes up space and cannot be contained. still life, acrylic, 6x6"

1120 Three Coats
sold Three coats of paint for the base layer does the trick for getting these brand new panels ready for painting. I used red and I'm going to try gray too. I also tried clear gesso but it was gritty, so I didn't like it. Other News: I have been watching the documentary "Painters Painting" this week. A lot of footage of artists in NYC prior to 1970. still life, acrylic,

1110 Girls
The Girls (who just can't stop painting) got together this evening for our monthly critique and dinner. Tonight we gathered in an old summer house directly on the water. Nothing but years of summer fun in that house - a legacy of beach days. still life, acrylic, 6x6" $100 click here to purchase

1107 take out
sold I've been thinking about taking things out of the picture and putting things in - I'm looking at two ways of filling space, just to see. When I work on the bigger paintings I put things in, then cover them up with paint, then put them back, then cover them up again, it's a process and some things get left behind. still life, 4x4" acrylic Other News: Below is the drawing I did last week of the Provincetown space I was living in. The drawing is on Fabriano paper with walnut ink and some acrylic for the darks. It's around 50" I think. (click to enlarge)

1104 Not a Morning Painting
sold
I did my five a.m. painting, but later while I was reading a book by Terry Smith for my hw assignment for next week's class I kept looking at the space between these two hydrangeas. I thought it would be interesting to paint, which of course, ended the reading.

1103 Rules
sold
Since January, I've been writing, drawing and painting in a sketchbook (almost everyday). Sometimes I record ideas and sometimes color combinations I see or find. Today I recorded hydrangea blues in the book. still life, acrylic, 5x7
