1393 Chelsea
sold We arrived in NYC early on Saturday and headed straight to the galleries in Chelsea just as they were opening. Our first stop was the Monya Rowe Gallery to see Vera Iliatoya's show, Days of Never. Second on our list was Jean-Michel Basquiat at Gagsoian, this exhibit featured over fifty of Basquiat's works. . . in between we saw an exhibit at Pace by painter Adrian Ghenie and then an exhibit of Jim Dine's paintings and a stop motion claymation film by Nathalie Djurberg & Hans Berg at Zach Feur and a photocopy of a Richard Serra piece (don't ask).
Oh, another highlight was a Philip Gustin painting and eee - so many more galleries were seen. I need a week for each block. . . speaking of the block, we saw an outdoor installation by El Anatsui which was above us on the High Line - they converted the old elevated railway into a public park - art everywhere! So. . . this is a recap of our morning and early afternoon, more soon. still life, acrylic, 6"x 6" $100 click here to purchase.
