I've painted these birds before, but I painted them new this a.m. for the "Chicken Challenge," over at the DPW. These chickens are extra special because one of my very special blogging pen (?) pals sent me these precious photos to use as I wish.

  1. Hi Lisa,
Your paintings are amazing, I really love the abstracted light you get on your subjects.

  2. So much divine poultry on the web this week. But these three may be the prettiest pullets of them all.

  4. Beautiful painting! I love the warm light on their feathers and the way you managed to give personality to the chicken just with a few brushstrokes. Thanks for sharing!

  6. Leave it to you to come up with the most creative of the chicken challenge. Looks like a couple of sentinels guarding the corn while the middle one says, to heck with it, I'm eating!!!

  7. I love the personality of these chicks--boy chicks, right? I actually had to google the difference between roosters and hens to know. Apparently, I don't have a very high farm-animal IQ, and obviously I'm the chicken, or I'd get out my brushes and attempt this challenge myself.

  8. thank you! I think I'll never get tired of painting chickens . . . I liked painting them again and then comparing this to the older painting I did a couple months ago.
