1737 Ocean State

still life, acrylic, 6" x 6"

sold I scooted down to Rhode Island tonight for a talk by illustrator, Mary Jane Begin. Begin has illustrated many children's books including her own version of The Wind in the Willows. Her rendition of Mr. Toad is inspired by Providence's former  Mayor Buddy Cianci - can you see a resemblance?

  1. Early riser today as i am well rested

i am still amazed at the different still lives you can get from the same flowers and vase. i guess the secret is in the arrangement.

Ocean State has beautiful purple flowers. the vase reminds me of a bag tied up around the flowers.

    very warm and inviting

  2. darn she beat me to it again. well i am glad you enjoyed mary jane Begin. so rhode island is not very far for you. many years ago i visited Newport on the coast. have you been there?

Well this is a marvelous still life with flowers that are calling out to me. you cannot miss what they are saying because they are pointed in every direction.

Just what time did Marge get up this morning?

  3. Hello Marge and Lillian - thank you! I sometimes draw thumbnails of the set up so I can play with the composition more. Rhode Island is very close and I have been to Newport - I lived near there, over the bridge in Bristol, RI. when I was a student (the first time).
