#1008 Petal Plucking
SOLD
It's that time again for another GJWP challenge. I think this month's challenge is love. I can't be too sure, since last month I got it totally wrong. I attempted to paint Brie's favorite duck which plays Jingle Bells when bitten. But, because she has loved this thing so much, the painting had a mood that was sending the wrong vibe, a little creepy. still life, acrylic, 6x6"

#1001 One Thousand and One
SOLD
It was a pleasure to paint 1001 today. I wonder if I should set some new parameters for the upcoming daily paintings, but I'm not sure what those rules should be. I also did some monoprints from my mind's eye of some of the color combinations I see when I'm out and about. The little monoprints are currently in the, 'I don't know about these yet' stage - if you know what mean. Thank you everyone who commented on the blog and facebook and for the emails - have I mentioned how happy the correspondence made me? still life, 6x6", acrylic,

#1000
Five of us (and two parrots - don't ask) embarked on a paint out. We headed to a greenhouse and marveled in a gloriously warm and tropical afternoon surrounded by kumquat shrubs and pineapple trees and aforementioned parrots. We put our brushes down and secretly toasted when painting 1000 was completed (phew), then onward to a most enjoyable dinner. Words to state how happy I am without sounding trite or corny are hard to come by. I always feel I can never express my gratitude enough, but thank you to everyone for finding my blog and reading my posts and opening my daily emails. And thank you to everyone who celebrated 1000 with me or 999 or any of the other days along the way. I appreciate it more than you'll know.
So, about this 1000th painting, because I know you are wondering but you're too polite to ask; I recently learned about On Kawara an artist who has done a series of 'date paintings' consecutively since 1965. And happily, I also learned there were even more artists working within the parameters of daily ritual and routine. One artist even set out for a pursuit of infinity. As a result, I'm thinking a lot about process of the daily ritual and this painting is an appropriation of Kawara. But wait! You were expecting a painting of sugar bowl maybe? Well, so was I, so I did that too. . . the sugar bowl, as I may have mentioned is my favorite relic from my grandmother's house. . . '1000', 4x4" acrylic • '1000 and a half' 4x4", acrylic - sold. One last thing: Thank you again for seeing me along these 1000 days. . . sold

#999 1000 Eve
SOLD
On the eve of 1000 paintings I have been revisiting my very first postings. In anticipation of painting the 1000th, I've come up with some cleverly creative solutions to make it extra special (okay, admittedly some of my ideas were pretty bad). But, then I felt relieved, because I realized I've known what to do all along. . . 6x6", acrylic, still life (demo done at NRAS this morning).

#998 Crooked Stem
sold Overall, it was a good day for digging. An extremely low tide allowed us (me and Brie) to walk out into the middle of the inlet which is usually filled with water. Brie dug for buried treasure (although I think her idea of a good find is not the same as mine), I dug to kill time waiting for Brie to exhaust the joy of digging, and the clamdiggers dug for, well, clams.
