#977 Challenge Redo (Fascination)

I attempted my monthly GJWP Challenge yesterday only to realize I did the same challenge two months in a row, oops. This month the theme is 'storefront.' Leave it to me to pick the one building on Nantasket Beach without a store in it to paint yesterday! Anyhow, I went back through my beach safari photos and chose this one. This building houses "Fascination," a game similar to skee-ball which has been in business since 1945. architecture, acrylic, 4x4"

sold Ooookay, yesterday I posted the new GJWP challenge painting for the month, "Landmarks." Er, UM, only to find out that was last month's GJWP Challenge. And the very sad thing about that is I partook in last month's challenge and when I painted a landmark again less than thirty days later it never occurred to me that I was doing the wrong month's challenge. The GJWP challenge this month is to paint a landmark. Here's the thing, I think it is supposed to be in a square format, that was the rule. And typically, as you might have guessed, I have noooo problem with squares, I love them, except, apparently when someone tells me to paint in one. After 974 days of painting, I have not yet learned to let the painting dry before putting it face down on the scanner - my scanner is a mess! Other News: It was a two walk kind of day. Today was the return of snow buffalo. She (Brie) does this thing, I don't know how to explain it, but she positions her body in a way which looks just like the body of a buffalo, then she springs up, launches herself really, through the air. Makeshift #958

I created a little portable studio for myself this morning. I poured globs of paint into snack bags yesterday before putting the bigger tubes in a box to ship home. I didn't want to complicate my air travel by putting paints in my luggage. A roll of paper towels became my 'easel.' I mistakenly packed my misty water bottle so, I had to paint really fast before the paint got tacky. Oh, and the orange was borrowed from my breakfast. still life, acrylic, 4x4"

Not an Eggplant #957

I must have been unnerved by my gator sighting at the food store this morning (see below) because I kept calling these poor artichokes, eggplants. Also below, is the cross between the lemon and orange, except it is green, I know, you were expecting something more colorful and less wart-y (me too). Sadly, today was the last day of the workshop here at the Center for the Arts in Bonita Springs if you are in Florida, the Center offers a variety of activities; classes, workshops, demos and performances. We painted our hearts out at today's workshop. And you know what? It just makes me feel like painting some more. Other News: Add spray varnish to my list of painting things I may not be able to do without. I tried it today and I like it! I'm blogging from Florida. Today was my demo-day at The Center for the Arts of Bonita Springs and I found sunflowers to paint. I know - in January? I can barely believe it myself. Florida is the land of sunflowers and surprise sandwiches and sunshine and people who are delightful to demos for. Oh, Florida, is not the land of my scanner, however, it's back home on stay-cation with Brie, the dog, so I'm back to taking photos with my camera, not my forté because I don't take my own advice and go outside to do it, soooo, here's a photo of my demo painting. Tomorrow we paint! Thank you to everyone who came out to the demo today, I'm glad to know you.

I feel a little weird tooting my own horn, but Brie, the dog, refuses to add public relations to her responsibilities without substantial compensation in the form of peanut butter or diamonds, she's torn.
