Daily Painting #179
This is not a large spice bottle, but rather really small apples. And a small bowl. I think they are crab apples, I have no idea.
Other news; My assistant, Brie, the dog, and I brought some new pieces down to White Magdelena today in Hingham Square.
And I received Carol Marine's book, 100 Small Paintings in the mail today - she's outdone herself again - I swear she doesn't sleep.

Daily Painting #177 & #178
Back on track, for the past two days I haven't been able to paint early in the day, which had pushed my posting off until the paint dried, which was usually past my bedtime. But today, I got up early and have already done two paintings. The apple painting is yesterdays post done late last night and today's is of the mugs, the other I did today is not done yet. . .
Now off to make a dish for Thanksgiving! I'm thinking ambrosia, put this fruit to more use!!!

Daily Painting #173

I've made two discoveries today -
One; if I use the table near the window for my setups, I get a really lovely natural light for hours - now how have I missed this up until now - it seems so obvious?
Two; I've also discovered the 'sell similar items' in the Ebay menu - sadly, I've been really doing a lot of strange things in order to list my Ebay items, all the while, thinking, there's got to be a better way. . . !
Other News: Happy Anniversary to my parents! And Brie, the dog, not the cheese, has just returned from her day at the grooming parlor. But, that's not all, got new pipes today too. . . which, if you've ever had old pipes is really, really, really good news. . . good night!
Raymar Art Contest
This just in!
I was selected as one of the October Finalists for the October Raymar Art Competition. Check it out here at Raymar Art Contest.

Daily Painting #172
Thursday again - painted in studio w/the favorite painting group - only one session left! Did a bigger 12" x 12" painting there, this was a little one done at home will post the other at some time and I still owe the blog the others from last weekend's workshop too.
In other news: Brie has been featured on someone else's blog. . . it's gone to her head, this stardom, she thinks she's a micro-celebrity. May I remind her, she's still a dog and can't even access the internet.

Daily Painting #167 & #168
I didn't post yesterday but it was for a very good reason;
I painted ALLLL day instead at a workshop by Page. The chair is from her house, we painted interiors and did exercises based on values and warms and cools. I'll post those soon. I think when faced with a gray day, maybe I can imagine it warm instead? I don't know, but I'm going to try my theory soon.
Friday was great too - Avante Garde opened and it was super exciting - thanks to those who made it extra special. . . Avante Garde is up until December 6th at Oceanside 17, 17 Rockland Circle, Hull, MA -
And finally, today's painting is of the bottles. . . I've been avoiding glass lately and decided to go for it. The glass bottles were found in the ground outside by my parents in their first house - intact, nary a chip. . .

Daily Painting #165
I had an interesting Thursday morning - it's still my favorite day of the week painting with some of the loveliest of people - but it was so gray - Page, my favorite day artist leader, (click here to paint w/her in Mexico) once showed me a photo reference artist Connie Hayes used on a painting of houses w/hardly any contrast. No light source!? And CH was able to pull out the most amazing color palette and lights and darks - how do people do that?!!! I want to do that!
I couldn't get in a zone to make the painting feel good - it was just so gray, everything seemed, well, gray. . . anyhow, I did the only thing I could do - go to the market on the way home, buy a boatload of fruit (okay, a bag load) and get painting (promptly after some M&M's and a cup of tea). I guess the best thing to do after one of those paintings that make you feel not so un-gray, is do another one, and then another. . . the M&M's help too. . . now I'm off to walk the dog.
Oh and I received the most helpful comment on my images for posting - hopefully the images load quicker now! Thank you!
