Day Dreaming #797

SOLD
This plant and window fastener are having one lazy afternoon. This is also my DPW Challenge entry, but I might have cheated, I cropped in on what they wanted painted so I might be disqualified. Anyhow, the challenge was to paint a black and white photograph in color. still life acrylic 6"x6"

Other News: The Hull Harbor Illumination was last night. It's something else, hundreds of flares lining the harbor were lit all at the same time, while a rowboat carrying a bag piper played a song I forget the name of. It was beautiful!

Jam Jar Sunflower #796

I've been tagged by Kim Rempel in the seven links project - "To unite bloggers (from all sectors) in a joint endeavor to share lessons learned and create a bank of long but not forgotten blog posts that deserve to see the light of day again." It's kind of hard, could take me awhile, but it's got me thinking. still life acrylic 9"x9" click here to purchase $155 shipping and handling $7

#792 July

These cheery flowers have been staring me down for a couple of days now. I've been circling them, wondering what to do, what to do. still life acrylic 9"x9" click here to purchase $155 shipping and handling $7

Other News; My continuing suspicion of my dog is coordinating her squeaky toys with our outdoor activities is confirmed again today. I told her we were going to go get some basil and the animal brought out her pet oven mitt, really, she did.

#790 Deja Vu

Wait. Didn't we see this painting yesterday? Yes and no, this is the same subject matter, different size, a little more light and dark in the buildings.

Instead of destroying a painting to make changes sometimes I think to save it from myself, and start a new one the next day and apply my new ideas fresh. I am also working on a big painting of flowers and a small beach scene with people. still life acrylic 6"x6" click here to purchase, $100 shipping and handling $7

#786 In My View (Across the River)

I stood in the middle of my view today to paint. This is what I see from my window except, I drove over the bridge to the other side. So if I had thought to have looked behind me, I could have seen where I usually am, but I didn't look that way, I have just now realized. still life acrylic 6"x6" click here to purchase $100 shipping and handling $7

Other News; This is also my entry into the Daily Paintworks Challenge.

More News Still; I'm on some sort of migration path, first turkeys, then that pigeon, then the Irish Wolfhound and it's cat, and now a Great Dane.

#783 Proof

We (me and Brie, the dog) dug in two new pots of daisies and the squeaky toy which joined us was a. . .

tree.

See? She is coordinating her toys with our activities.

#782 Onlookers

SOLD
This morning I weeded, while Brie watched. She brought her stuffed squeaky caterpillar outside to watch as well. I'm becoming suspicious that she is coordinating the type of squeaky creature she chooses with the activity.

To test this theory, tomorrow I'm going to fill her kiddie pool and see if she arrives with her squeaky lobster or platypus or maybe something more suited for a swimming pool, like her frog. still life acrylic 6"x6" click here to purchase $100 sh $7

#781 hydrangea and yellow things

It's been decided. I'm going to try figure drawing (painting) this week from a model. Be afraid, totally not my forté, but I'm looking forward to something new.

Other News: Brie and I saw a deer at the park today. Rather, I saw the deer, Brie flirted with the other person stopped in the path to watch the deer, my animal did not even see it.

Surrounded #779

Moments after I scored this big, fluffy hydrangea from the yard several large turkeys appeared along with their little fuzzy babies, I counted eight birds in all. Brie hid in the bedroom. still life acrylic 6"x6"

#777

sold When I first painted this, the bottle was smaller than the mugs. I thought, those are some awfully big mugs. Usually I don't change too much after I'm done - but this was really bugging me, even when I turned it around and put it on the other side of the room and told it to stop pestering me, it just couldn't help itself. So, I went back in and made it a new size. We are at peace now.

#775 Yardment -The Other Side of the Fence

SOLD

A flower from Brie's side of the yard. Brie's idea for the next Yardment* is for me to paint her dirt pile, the one she made while creating a hole. Oh, to be a Wheaten. still life acrylic 6"x6"

*yardment defined - if you have no idea what I'm talking about, that's okay, I think I'm being funny, but it might just be funny to me - Duane Keiser, a daily painting superhero, is painting 1000 'Oddments,' so every now and then, I think it's a good idea to paint something from the yard and call it a Yardment. Brie, the dog/art collector is waiting patiently for her own Oddment, we, er, um, I purchased #308 and I'm really hoping it's a painting of a piece of candy and not one of a bug - his subjects have quite the range - Brie is hoping for a painting of a dog treat or a squeaky toy or of the dog across the street, named Stinky, oh p-lease do not let it be a painting of Stinky -

#768 Cohasset

SOLD
I painted outside in the late afternoon today, which is unusual for me, I am typically outside in the a.m. I decided to go later today to test the light and also after Brie's play date with a Jack Russell named Chase and a lovely mix of a dog with fox-like ears called Abby.

First thing this morning though, I started with a 12x12 and a 6x6. The 12x12in isn't done, I switched to the 6x6in half way through of the same subject matter to work out a few things before completing the bigger one.

Other News: The GJWP Challenge theme this month is 'foreign' click here to view all of the paintings. I almost painted my grape tomatoes all the way from Chile for this one, I couldn't come up with anything! But then remembered this photo. I like these challenges because it allows me to paint subjects I wouldn't ordinarily consider.

#767 Olive Oil

SOLD
Olive oil bottle, not a beer bottle, unless you want it to be a beer bottle, I'm sure it wouldn't mind.
