Me Again #672

I recently got some advice to paint the same thing for the whole week. So, I kind of tried it. Mostly. . . sort of, okay, not really doing it, but I think it's a good idea.

12x12in Day #670

Today is 12x12 inch day. . .I also made a 12in coffee cake - my canvas for creation knows no bounds. Speaking of bounding (?), Brie magically slid into the kitchen in herobedient sitting position when she heard me open the butter wrapper - which is essentially silent. When I call her name, LOUDLY, nothing, no dog - but a whisper of a butter wrapper, poof, instant dog. She LOVES butter. 12x12in, acrylic click here to purchase

Jam(med) Jar

I jammed some berries in this jar, didn't make jam though.

This was a really quick one - I wanted to warm up for my last night of the Daily Painting Intensive Workshop at White Magdelena House!

#665 Trimmed 12x12in

It's still alive, this Ranunculus - but I had to trim it's stem today, I've had trouble fitting it into a canvas. . .which is why it hasn't made many appearances this week. Okay, who are we kidding, I've been seduced by those strawberries. I haven't pulled myself away from those long enough to give this flower the attention it deserves. It's a sickness, these strawberries, I should seek help.

#663 You Don't Say

And they really don't, apples do not talk - right?

Other News: Over at the DPW Challenge, they are selling paintings to raise money for Japan - the theme is "Home," and they've already raised $7400!

#662 12x12in Greens

sold I'm not convinced I have the color on this photo right. I typically scan my paintings, but if it's larger than the scanner, like this one, I take a picture. The shadows in real life on the painting are darker and that reflected green is more gray in real life - Oh and this is blurry and it's too dark now to reshoot. So, no for sale link on this until I reshoot it.

#661 Big Pint 12x12in

I feel like making things bigger than they really are lately. . . exaggerating their size.
Below is a picture of my palette at the end of today's painting. Note the Fluff container, that's my water for my brush! 12x12in, acrylic, $375, paypal

Other News; Book club tonight! We're reading "Freedom" - well we were supposed to have finished it, almost done. . . I just might make it!

Not a Chair #659

We took three walks today. It was just that kind of a day. Now Brie is 'soaking' in a bowl of ice cubes. Paws and chin stuffed in her little tiny ice cube bowl.

This painting started off as a chair. . . it turned into this.

This is a 12x12in painting, acrylic

Front Lawn #657

I Forgot. . . #656

To buy a flower.

But this can was empty this morning, so it solved the aforementioned lack of flower - what to paint issue - before it became a question.

I did put yesterday's painting on the Daily Paintworks Challenge even though I'm still thinking I could stick to the rules better. I took some notes and taped them to my easel, so I might try it again.

Other News: The opening was great, thank you all for coming!

More News Still: Brie, my fluffy big friend, had her yearly doc appt today. . . and she's bigger. I can't believe it. I weighed her twice to make sure . . . I just thought it was her haircut making her look, well, fluffy. Nope. Tomorrow we're taking two walks.

Direction #655

SOLD

I thought this would be for the newly posted challenge over at Daily Paintworks but this painting, turns out, had a mind of it's own and I don't think it fits the assignment anymore. . .

I'm off to the opening!

#654 Sleepy Sheepy

SOLD
Relapse.

I herded this and the rest of the flock of sheep paintings down to White Magdelena House today.

One Last Word: Not sure what the etiquette is on reminders, but I've met my quota, I'm sure, (particularly after accidentally emailing my facebook friends ELEVEN times - nice job, Brie) about the opening, 5-7, Sunday, March 13 at Bella's in Rockland, 781-871-5789.

#653 Orange. . .

Orange. . . you glad it's not a sheep, or a strawberry or an orange?

Okay, it's obvious I need to get out more.

Luckily, (here goes my plug) the opening reception at Bella's is this Sunday, March 13th, 5-7 - some of the Daily Paintings and others (think 3x4ft behemoth painting) will be on display and I will be there too! Bella's is on rte 228 in Rockland, MA -

#649 Front and (Off) Center & LAL

SOLD
I had sheep on the brain when I woke up this morning. So, I decided to start a flock over here. Admittedly, I did a few of these little guys, once I started I didn't want to stop.
4x4in, acrylic

Oh, below is my submission for the Challenge over at the DPW - it's 4x4in, "LAL - Lisa's Abe Lincoln" - the challenge was to paint Lincoln in grayscale using a limited palette or paint it in color or paint both grayscale and color at the same time or we could choose to ignore it!

If you don't know about the DPW weekly challenge, it's something new. Carol Marine has come up with challenges as well as other DPW artists. This week was Raymond Logan's turn.

#648 Poolside

Yesterday's email went out with the title, "Strawberry Shaker," that title was a hybrid, or rather a cut and paste job gone wrong. Yesterday was actually meant to be called, "Strawberry Training," and that is still not going well, in case you were wondering, which you probably weren't.

New Workshop:
Everyday Painting Workshop
3 Days with Lisa Daria and Gina Brown
Gadsden Museum of Art, Gadsden, AL
May 31 - June 2 ,
10 - 4

Explore the discipline of painting every day and discover how these two artists’ practice of daily painting produces personal growth. Lisa and Gina agree that continuous painting is by far the most effective way to improve creativity and image-making skills.

647 Strawberry Training

sold - We're in training. I'm teaching (reminding) Brie, the dog, the proper use for the strawberry patch is to grow strawberries. She seems to think it's her, er, throne of sorts, so, the training has begun again for the season.

36inx48in Sugar Shaker #646

SOLD
I don't know what got into me this morning, but there was a big wall at Bella's just waiting for me to put this 36x48in canvas to use. So, I did! And what fun - I'll have to take a photo of the aftermath in my painting room, my little palettes weren't enough so I used Christmas paper plates.

I hope you'll come to Bella's on Sunday, March 13th, from 5-7 I'll be there and you can see paintings like this and others in person. There's plenty of the little ones there too.

Other News: The American Watercolor Society chose my FAVORITE watercolorist, Irena Roman, for the High Winds Medal of Honor! This is their 144th International Exhibition. The award winning painting below by Irena Roman will be on display April 5 - May 1 at the Salmagundi Club Galleries, 47 Fifth Ave, NYC before a year long traveling exhibition across the U.S.

More News Still: I'd like to add, I really have two favorite watercolorists, my mother is my other (ha, that rhymes) - hi mom!

And lastly: Brie approves of today's painting.

Apple, Apple, Check #645

I have red apples on the mind, but I keep buying green ones. And I discovered this week I like the way the regular apples taste over the organic. Why am I not surprised, considering I love Fluff. 6x6in, acrylic, $100, Click here to purchase apples

Bean Dot #644

My Daily Paintworks Challenge entry. This week it's mixing a color for each stroke and proved really helpful on the background.
