The Same Road to Cohasset #332

SOLD
If you are thinking, this looks very similar to #291, you would be right. I wanted to experiment and do a painting from another painting today - which was a lot easier than painting from a photo, maybe because it was already in my mark making language?

Anyhow, I've been wanting to redo a painting for a while and make little changes along the way. I want to try this again and change the color palette completely. This went well, but it felt a little like cheating, so I set up a still life and did that too, but it's not finished yet.

Blue Sky #331

Huh. Just when the new scanner arrives, I get the hang of taking photos - doesn't it figure?!

Lemon Lounge #330

I just met Randy Veragus, the Producer for Alluring Artist, "a weekly spot showcasing local talent" - I think this is the first time I've ever been interviewed on video or maybe ever, come to think of it. Well, anyhow, she has a warm, upbeat, outgoing personality and did make you forget about being on camera, which must be very hard to do.

It was fun, I've been looking forward to it and now I can't wait to see it!

Tell Us a Story #329

SOLD
I've stated it before, I spend way too much time with the fruit. Today, it looked like these little lemons were waiting for story time from the flower. Must. . . get. . . out. . . more.

Other News: It's less than one month until my 365th day of painting - how can this be already? I'm now taking suggestions for #365.

Pink Peace #328

As I reached for the daisies these jumped out - I think they are daisy variety, but they are PINK! The spring things are on break in the backyard, I guess I have to wait to see what comes next, peonies maybe? Is it true ants live in them and make them open up? Or is that a myth?

Birdland #327

I figured a jazzy title might end my blues - we'll see tomorrow, I think I'll get some flowers somewhere, I'm on the prowl.

Other News: the Village is a lot cleaner today thanks to the Earth Day efforts of the Village residents, next weekend my yard? Sign up below. . . just kidding. . . I think.

Blues #326

I don't have the blues, but I do have a lot of blue objects and fabrics. Today I shot the photo outside in the shade, while I stood in the shade. I meant to buy a scanner yesterday, but drove right by the store - ! Deep in still life thought, no doubt.

Yard Tulips #324

I grew 'em and I picked 'em - I could use some fruit trees for my still life setups. Or M&M trees. Or pizza trees.

Other News; it's that time again to play, what will my oddment #308 be? Or what won't it be?

Bridge #323

This flower stem looks like it's a bridge for the objects on the right to get over to the left.

Other News: I miss my scanner and feel my image quality is lacking. It's so hard to shoot a good picture, it's totally time dependent/light dependent. . .

Nantasket Plaid #322

SOLD
I painted outside today at the Drop Anchor Inn near Nanatasket Beach - everyone likes their porches around here, this chair was outside on the covered porch, the sunlight was almost reaching it. . . but it wasn't - I was attracted to the color of the chair and the plaid and how it was bright even in the shadow.

Other News: Save the Date! May 22nd -
We're putting on a show at the same time as the Taste of Hingham - Attached are photos of everyone who is participating, there's eleven of us.The work will be at 35 North Street, Hingham, here's a little bit about the Taste of Hingham;

Pink Snow Floor #321

I am still excited about my painting from a photo yesterday, I wanted to try another today, but decided to preserve my joy one more day. I figured if my next attempt from a photo wasn't as much fun as this, at least I could linger in this one a little longer.

The yard is covered in the tiny little pink petals right now, looks like pink snow. On that note, my floor is covered in them too.

Determined Redo Take Two #320

Feeling MUCH better about this painting from a photo thing today.
This one in particular I feel better about because;
1. it looks like a male (it did not yesterday)
and 2. I like the determination of the figure or wait, was that my determination?

Everyone needs a little balance and the sun was setting just as the rain stopped - what to do - the light on my new fruit was so inviting, but in the corner was the sad little fluffy friend - who brought the book, "Winter of Our Discontent," to bed with her (again) - so, I put the paint brush down and took her for a walk.

As I was saying. . . #319

Everyone else was doing it. . . so below, is a posting of person I painted from a photo I took. what do you think? Okay, yes, I've discovered I'm in dire need of some figure drawing lessons or sessions or whatever.

So, Along Comes a Tomato. . .#318

SOLD
Because everyone else is doing it, I started off this morning trying another painting from a photo. It started okay, but then I reverted back to my safety palette (don't ask) and quite frankly, I'm not sure if it's very good.

So, back to the flower and the tomato. And I kept thinking of the oddment idea from yesterday with my own version of yardments but the idea of painting random things only from the yard - worms, snails and other oddment yardments . . . I then thought, oh dear, maybe not.

Yardment #317

Have you seen Duane Keiser's Oddments? I thought maybe you'd like to play the "What will Oddment #308 be," game with me today. As you may or may not recall, I've mentioned Brie, the dog, is an art collector (I can't justify that kind of money on myself), so for her third birthday I signed her up for Oddment #308.

This painting doesn't exist yet, Duane Keiser is painting 1000 small paintings and people (or in this case dogs) are signing up for them in advance.

That stated, sometimes my mind wanders and I play the, "What will Oddment #308 be" game. Because an oddment can be anything, "a remnant or part of something, typically leftover from a larger piece."

I thought maybe you'd like to play the "What will Oddment #308 be," game with me today, send your oddment guess in my comments if you'd like. . .

Strange Company #316

SOLD
Maybe daffodils and tomatoes don't hang out in real life. . . but then again, I'm not sure if this is a daffodil, it's from the yard and looks different than the other ones. . .

Two Daffodils, Some Tomatoes Daily Painting #315

I don't think I'll be painting daffodils as long as I did daisies, they are starting to wilt, they aren't very resilient when cut, are they? But, guess what? I noticed sunflowers yesterday at the foodstore. . . now how to sneak them into the grocery budget, that's the trick. . .

Spring Things Daily Painting #313

All geared up to go paint outside this morning, but it was too cloudy. So I started this little still life and put it on hold to finish until the afternoon. . . when I came back to painting it was sunny - I should have packed everything up and headed outside - but fussed with this instead in it's new lighting situation - always a challenge when something goes from cloudy to sunny just like that.

Flowering Things in the Backyard Daily Painting #312

More flowering backyard plants- this yellow bush/tree/hedge, daffodils and the pink cherry tree - when I let Brie out this morning, I came back in with a bounty to paint. There's plenty of dandelions too, consider yourself forewarned.

Daffodil Daily Painting #311

Today was not the day. Everyday I wake up thinking, today is the day I will be able to paint with success from a photograph and with everyone else doing it, I figured, today must be the day. . .it was not. . . I'll keep trying though. This painting is the one that came before the one from the photo, which will not be posted, thank-you-very-much. And in the meantime, I have an alarmingly large library of photos I can't wait to paint from when the time is right.

The Cherry Tree in the Backyard Daily Painting #311

Delightful, the tree in the backyard has tiny pink flowers, all for me!
I've been feeling a little tight lately so I tried not to fuss - and promised myself I wouldn't go back in and change anything, with that stated, I really want to go back in and add a daisy. . . totally kidding!!! There are a couple of things I'd change, but I was happy spending the afternoon not being fussy.

The Not So Secret Daisy Fetish Daily Painting #310

SOLD
I promise, after THIS I'll stop painting daisies, or at least paint them in private - I was eyeing the daffodils on my front lawn today, so maybe there's hope? To make up for this painting, I'm posting another painting I did yesterday at Weir Farm. It looked pretty flat at the farm, so I spruced it up - or made it worse, I don't know - maybe someone from yesterday's outing can tell me?

The Grove at Weir Farm Daily Painting #309

I painted at Weir Farm today in Hingham - this is the Grove well, actually, I don't remember what it was called exactly, but it was part of the agreement to have this stay on the premises when the farm was donated - I love this place - there's a friendly dog, lots of chickens, sheep, goats, cows and two camels. Okay, the camels are stone but camels nonetheless.

And the Winner is. . . #308

Ann Rogers! Thank you to everyone who has signed up for the blog - Ann, would you be so kind as to send me an address off-blog - email link upper right corner and I'll pop #300 in the mail!

So, I'm in the midst of figuring out white cloth - and yes, these are the same daisies - ! And my scanner is still not working - but everything else is, so I can't complain, I just have to figure out a better method for taking photos - this one is okay - but not perfect (yet!). Yesterday's painting is not as frosting-like as I suspected, but I think I'll save it for White Magdelena and not post it on the blog - it'll be a surprise!

On the Way to Damon's Point Daily Painting #307

I did paint today, I promise, but I think I may have had almond icing on the brain for my coffee cake-loaf because I used A LOT of white - so, I'm posting this one today and I'll give the one I did today another look tomorrow in sunlight.

This one was the first of my two outdoor paintings on Friday - POP (painting outdoors partner) informed me that most outdoor scenes are mid-tone - AH-HA! This made perfect sense, of course they are, particularly around here, even the buildings are gray shingled! With that in mind, I was off and painting and trying to push things.

Other News: Drawing of painting 300 will take place tomorrow, so you still have 4.5 hours to sign up to be a follower on the blog -

I'm sorry! Daily Painting #306

I feel like a new woman - hours and hours with tech support has not steered me wrong - Apple is THE best to work with!

Oh, the title of today's painting - I regressed back to daisies, I'm sorry! In the hour I was on the phone w/tech support last night, I baked a coffee cake, er, um loaf (no cake pan) and today, I did a painting while on hold, and felt I needed the comfort of the daisy.

Everyone has their security blanket, for Brie, the dog, it's an occasional oven mitt, for me lately it's daisies.

NFS - Mother's Day present for my mom!

Other News: NEW PAINTINGS delivered to White Magdelena today!

Damon's Point, Sort of Daily Painting #305

SOLD
This is one of two paintings done yesterday - when painting outside, the light changes FAST! We were prepared for this, myself and and Painting Outside Partner (P.O.P) - what POP and I didn't consider is the 'lawn' we were looking at would fill with water. The bridge we were standing on should have been a tip off!

Painting for 300 days leaves other things neglected, like upgrading one's computer. So, last night, I did so for four hours - the good news, is things that weren't working right, like the internet are now working great - the bad news is, none of my applications work anymore! Or my scanner - so, please pardon the poopy image, I'm experiencing some technical difficulties, but am on it!

One Daisy. . . Daily Painting #304

I give up - Blogger won't let me upload a photo hopefully this problem is fixed by the morning and I'll add it then - but it's done, rest assured - tomorrow begins the daisy diet.
